South Australia

South Australia is in history as Britain’s first freely settled British province. Unlike other main states in Australia, South Australia was not created to be part of the original convict settlement. The state is the southern central portion of the continent. South Australia is lying comfortably in arid land. It touches the Antarctic or Southern Ocean and the Great Australia Bight in the south and around it are the borders of other states like New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

The terrain is unique and all the more makes South Australia more interesting. There is a number of low mountain ranges. The climate is very ideal for dwelling and agriculture. Summers set from November to February, the highest temperatures occurring on January. Winters are still temperate and it does not snow. That is why many local tourists flock the state during the freezing cold months in their home states.

It is just logical to say that South Australia is business focused. The manufacturing industry is the main thrust of the state, though there are main agriculture and commodity exports like wheat and wool. The South Australian manufacturing sector comprises of automotive, electronic systems and defence technologies. The local economy is brisk and has been showing signs of strengthening. Annually, it is normal to see growth in production and economies.

South Australia’s mining sector is also becoming active, with some of the most important mining facilities abounding at its rural settlements. The population of the state is much concentrated on its capital city of Adelaide. Though, a small minority inhabits the arid and agricultural land around.

South Australia is the wine capital of the country. It is estimated that about 70% of total wine and brewery products circulating the whole of Australia comes from companies with operations and production in South Australia. The wide grapevine plantation across the arid lands of the state helps make supply of grapes abundant, ideal for formulation and production of the finest and most appetizing wines. It is said that the best wines can not come from elsewhere but in South Australia.

The capital city of Adelaide is unique for its planned layout and is touted as a business tourism destination. As a planned city, the layout of Adelaide is quite perfect for business tourism. Adelaide is laid out carefully on square mile grid patterns. Thus, there are extraordinarily wider streets and greenbelts of parklands encircle the whole Adelaide. The city has been so far considered a perfect haven and destination for meetings and conventions. Proof to this is the emergence of about 4,000 hotel rooms just about 10 minutes from the main Adelaide Convention Center. There is no need to take public or private transport from convention centers to hotels.
